Issue No.2 Autumn 2000 Introduction In spite of a warm welcome from most sectors, it has not been possible to please everybody with the contents or even the concept of The Other View. Nevertheless we are determined to do the best we can and continue turning out this groundbreaking magazine. Our second issue covers a range of controversial topics ranging from the long-standing difficulties surrounding the marching season to the different interpretations of the philosophy of republicanism in Ireland. One contributor has ever managed to refer to both topics in his contribution when he attempts to place William Prince of Orange into the republican tradition! Coming as we do, from the ex-prisoners constituency, it is no surprise that this issue carries a number of articles on the closure of a certain building near the town of Lisburn. It is unlikely that this issue of The Other View will gain the unqualified endorsement of the entire population of this island. The type of publication that might do so is unlikely however to explore any of the problems that have conspired to trouble us for all these years. The whole value of an exercise such as this is to look at the other person’s point of view and try and learn his or her rationale for holding that position. We may not like what we see but as the South Africans say: "All Truth Is Bitter"
